Ducati Panigale V4 2027: The Class Benchmark Evolves

Two more horsepower. A smarter final drive. Two entirely new rider aids that target the most demanding phase of any fast lap. The 2027 Ducati Panigale V4 is a sharper, more capable motorcycle - and it is available to order now from Ducati Oxford.

Dynamic Engine Brake and Race Brake Control are the headline additions for 2027 - both developed from Ducati Corse's World Superbike programme, both designed to deliver more speed where it counts most: corner entry. Combined with revised aerodynamics, a retuned front frame and a new final drive ratio, the 2027 Panigale V4 moves the benchmark forward without losing any of what made its predecessor exceptional.

A Sharper, Smarter Panigale V4

The 2027 Panigale V4 is not a ground-up redesign. It is a precisely targeted set of improvements, each one informed by Ducati Corse's development data from World Superbike competition and circuit testing at Vallelunga and Mugello. The result is a motorcycle that is immediately familiar to anyone who has ridden the previous generation, and immediately quicker for anyone who pushes it hard.

Six areas define the 2027 update. The 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine now produces 218 hp at 13,500 rpm - an increase of 2 hp - with a rev limiter in gears 2 to 5 raised to 15,000 rpm. A new final drive ratio of 17/42 (previously 16/41) reduces the number of gear changes per lap: Ducati recorded two fewer changes per lap at Vallelunga, contributing directly to improved drive and traction out of slow corners.

Two entirely new electronics systems make their debut. Dynamic Engine Brake (DEB) replaces the previous Engine Brake Control and uses the Ducati Vehicle Observer platform to adjust engine braking in real time. Race Brake Control (RBC) is a new system that automatically applies calibrated rear brake pressure during hard deceleration, reducing rear wheel lift and improving corner entry stability. Updated biplane-configuration winglets increase downforce, the front frame is revised for 12% less lateral stiffness, and on the V4 S the Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) 3.0 platform brings sharper semi-active damping. The V4 S also joins the Ducati Factory Made programme for 2027, with a substantially expanded colour and finish range including exclusive Lamborghini Ad Personam options.

218 hp, a Revised Final Drive, and a Higher Rev Ceiling

Revised intake, exhaust and lubrication updates lift the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 to 218 hp at 13,500 rpm and 120.6 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. A new enlarged front air intake delivers 0.6% more air pressure at 300 km/h. Peak power is up by 2 hp over the 2026 model, and the rev limiter in gears 2 to 5 rises by 500 rpm to 15,000 rpm, giving riders more usable revs in the middle of a corner before needing to change gear.

The new 17/42 final drive ratio is longer than the previous 16/41. The change reduces the total number of gear changes required per lap - Ducati's own circuit testing recorded two fewer gear changes per lap at Vallelunga - and shortens the wheelbase by 8 mm as a by-product. Less time shifting means more time on the throttle, which translates to better drive and less disruption to rear wheel traction on exit.

Akrapovic Full Racing Exhaust PRO

The Akrapovic Full Racing Exhaust PRO is available as an option for track use. Designed specifically for the 2027 Panigale V4, it adds 11 hp and 7 Nm of torque over the standard system and reduces total exhaust system weight by 6.6 kg. Available through Ducati Oxford's parts and accessories department.

Dynamic Engine Brake and Race Brake Control

Two new rider aids define the 2027 electronics package. Both target the same phase of a lap: the transition from full throttle to deep braking, where most lap time is found and where the demands on the rider are highest.

Dynamic Engine Brake (DEB)

Dynamic Engine Brake replaces the previous Engine Brake Control system. Rather than a fixed engine braking level, DEB uses the Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO) platform - a six-axis IMU measuring lean angle, yaw rate, pitch rate, speed and throttle position - to continuously adjust engine braking force on the overrun, corner by corner and condition by condition. The result is more predictable deceleration behaviour, less rear end movement under a closed throttle in a corner, and less need for the rider to manually compensate. DEB manages the work so the rider can focus on braking point and line.

Race Brake Control (RBC)

Race Brake Control is entirely new to the Panigale V4 for 2027. Under hard front-brake deceleration, RBC automatically applies a calibrated amount of rear brake pressure to maintain light rear wheel contact with the road surface. This reduces the tendency for the rear wheel to lift, lowers pitch under braking, and stabilises the bike on corner entry. RBC is adjustable through the riding mode setup screen and works in conjunction with DEB to deliver a more complete and controlled corner entry package.

Full Electronics Package

The 2027 Panigale V4 retains the full suite: Ducati Traction Control (DTC) DVO, Ducati Slide Control (DSC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) DVO, Ducati Power Launch (DPL) DVO, Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0, Race eCBS with cornering function, and five riding modes - Race A, Race B, Sport, Road and Wet. The 6.9-inch full-TFT instrument panel uses an 8:3 aspect ratio and is pre-configured for Ducati Data Logger (DDL) and Ducati Multimedia System (DMS). The V4 S adds Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) 3.0, with Ohlins Smart EC 3.0 semi-active control on both fork and rear shock.

A More Responsive Chassis

The front frame of the 2027 Panigale V4 has been retuned for 12% less lateral stiffness compared to the previous model. This change, developed through extensive circuit testing, improves mid-corner feel: the frame deflects slightly more, giving the rider better information about front-wheel grip and making the bike easier to steer from the apex through to the exit. It is the kind of refinement that experienced riders notice immediately on track.

The new biplane-configuration winglets generate greater downforce at speed, with enlarged side endplates extending the aerodynamic effect to a wider range of lean angles. At high-speed corners, the increased rear-end downforce directly improves stability and confidence under acceleration. The longer final drive ratio also reduces the wheelbase by 8 mm, contributing to a slightly more responsive steering response - a benefit that compounds the chassis revision.

On the V4 S, the clip-ons are now adjustable and can be raised by 10 mm, a practical change introduced in response to customer feedback from track day users who found the standard position demanding over longer sessions. Both V4 and V4 S retain the fully adjustable suspension setup that has defined the Panigale V4 line since its introduction: the V4 uses a 43mm Showa Big Piston Fork and Sachs monoshock; the V4 S steps up to Ohlins NPX-30 and Ohlins TTX 36 with DES 3.0 electronic control.

Panigale V4 2027: Your Questions Answered

What is new on the 2027 Ducati Panigale V4?

The 2027 Panigale V4 gains 2 hp for a total of 218 hp at 13,500 rpm, with a revised final drive ratio (17/42) and rev limiter raised to 15,000 rpm in gears 2 to 5. Two new rider aids make their debut: Dynamic Engine Brake (DEB) and Race Brake Control (RBC). The aerodynamic package is updated with new biplane-configuration winglets and enlarged side endplates. The front frame is revised for 12% less lateral stiffness. The Panigale V4 S gains adjustable clip-ons and joins the Ducati Factory Made customisation programme with an expanded colour range.

What is Dynamic Engine Brake (DEB)?

Dynamic Engine Brake (DEB) replaces the previous Engine Brake Control system. It uses the Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO) algorithm and data from the six-axis IMU - including lean angle, yaw rate, pitch rate, throttle position and speed - to continuously adjust engine braking force during deceleration.
